The transformational leader, as well as looking at the results, is also concerned with aligning the collaborator's interests with those of the organization. This leader focuses his or her managerial work on creating an attractive vision and good work conditions for the collaborator. The most important competence of transformational leaders ± besides their capacity to negotiate and control transactions ± is their capacity to create and communicate an attractive vision. Thus the transformational leader is a visionary and charismatic leader; able to persuade his or her collaborators to want
what he or she wants. This is also the type of leadership Bennis (1989, p. 89) proposes: ``(leaders are) people who are able to express themselves fully. They know who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and
how to fully deploy their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses. They also know what they want, why they want it, and how to communicate what they want to others in order to gain their cooperation and support.''
