Data analysis.
The computer software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA) version 13 was used in the analysis of the collected data. Data cleaning were done by checking a random sample of the questionnaires and exploring descriptive statistics for all variables. Mean and standard deviations were computed for continuous numeric variables. Variables were then coded. Additionally, chi-square was used for categorical data to reveal whether observed differences between proportions of events in groups were statistically significant or not (Fatthallah 2004). For example, chi-square test was used to assess the relationship between parental characteristics/demographic variables and their association with using traditional weaning methods. Also, it considered for examining the association between using traditional weaning practices and whether weaning associated problems were experienced during and/or after the child was weaned. The Fisher Exact test was used for tables with cells containing numbers less than 5.
