At 0 h,manure from pigs offered the wheat-based diet+β-glucans had an increased acetic:propionic acid ratio (P = 0.026) and a decreased concentration of isobutyric acid (P = 0.027), valeric acid (P = 0.006), isovaleric acid (P = 0.033) and overall odorous volatile fatty acids (P = 0.013) compared with pigs offered the barley-based diet diet (Table 4).
