1 Proactive and Professional Communications/Relationship with the Union
1.1 Formal channels of communications are expressly designed for particular
purposes and developed, steamlined and updated as necessary.
1.2 A facility for instant or near instant telephone communication is also
available at all times, so that if an emergency or crisis does occur, a
mutual understanding of the situation can be arrived at quickly, as a
precursor to speedy, fair and effective remedial action.
1.3 Regular meeting/workshop with Union based on the local practice for the
purpose of understanding and co-operation between the Union and the
management.
1.4 Normal effective and profitable relationships can be retrieved after
settlement of dispute.
2 Documentation and Reporting of Union Activities
2.1 Proper documentation of discussions/agreements that are made with
the union.
2.2 Proper documentation of collective bargaining agreement & minutes of
meeting with the union.
2.3 Clear trace of information and documentation for future reference.
2.4 Keeps general manager & executive committee team advised of develop-
ment with the relationship and specific issues of concern or dispute.
3 Local Legislation
3.1 Comply with local legislation/law regarding union presence in the hotel
e.g right of entry, etc
4 Contingency Plan
4.1 With contingency manpower planning / guidelines to handle with
industrial actions e.g. strike.
