In Thai society nowadays, stress has become a major psychological problem
among people of all ages and genders. This may be due to the fast-changing
society and economy, as well as various social problems which seem to be at
a critical level such as unemployment, poverty, crime and economy. All of
these trigger stress, which in turn affects people's physical well-being and
their way of living in many ways.
A survey from Department of Mental Health reveals that, females tend to have more stress than
males. One reason might lie in the fact that modern Thai women have increasing roles and
responsibilities in their daily lives, having to work full-time outside the home, and at the same time,
take care of all family members.
But, have you ever wondered how these women handle their stress?
In order to find out answers to such a question, INTAGE (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently conducted a
quantitative survey among 100 female residents in the Greater Bangkok area, aged 25-49 years old,
with household income higher than 22,500 Baht.
The survey shows that, 50% of the respondents feel that they have stress at the moderate to the
highest level, with causes coming from debt, love, as well as from getting themselves ready to solve
problems. When asked for the cause of stress, the majority (43%) mention 'issues from work' which
was mostly found among those aged between 30-34. Other causes include their own health, children,
income, hectic society, and traffic conditions which has become more and more serious. In sum, the
origin of stress among Bangkok females tend to involve 'family matters'.
