PLA/MCC composites as compared to pure PLA. It can be seen that
the onset decomposition temperature (Ton), for all PLA/MCC composites
were higher than pure PLA (295.93 ◦C) as well as T10% and
T50% decomposition temperatures. It is interesting to note that the
PLA/MCC 5% composites displayed highest char residue (2.4%) as
compared to pure PLA, PLA/MCC 1% and PLA/MCC 3%. This behavior
is probably due to the presence of a higher amount of crystalline
cellulose I from MCC produced which has an intrinsically flame
resistant property (Haafiz, Eichhorn, Hassan, & Jawaid, 2013).
