VI. CONCLUSION AND FUTURE WORK
We have described our educational critiquing approach,
i.e. software design critiquing tool to support software
engineering students in learning a software design course.
We have briefly presented several critiquing tools in various
domains and these tools demonstrate that critic-based
approach is one of the effective mechanisms for providing
user feedback. We also explained our research methodology
and software design critic framework.
This research work is very much proof-of-concept that a
software design critiquing tool will support the software
engineering students to learn the software design course in a
simple and effective way. In addition, a well-designed tool
support will enable students to work effectively in teams on
their design problems, quickly developing, refining, and
assessing their designs. Finally, we expect that utilization of
the critiquing tool should not only focus on the artefacts to
be produced, but also the process used to arrive at those
artefacts.
Our plans for future work on this research include the
construction of other types of design critics such as the
architecture design critics and interface design critics.
Generally, these critics will be added incrementally in the
critic repository by the lecturers. Furthermore, an evaluation
of the initial prototype of target students will be performed.
