Sustainable development demands a sustainable supply of
energy resources that, in the long term, is readily and sustainably
available at reasonable cost and can be utilized for all required tasks
without causing negative environmental and societal impacts. Better
designed drying systems can contribute significantly to meeting
society’s desire for more efficient, environmentally benign energy
use and for sustainable development of the industry for drying
applications. By reducing energy consumption, the utilization of
sustainable drying systems results in two significant environmental
benefits: (i) the conservation of fossil fuels through efficiency
increases and/or fuel substitution, and (ii) reductions in emissions
of such pollutants as CO2, SO2, NOx and CFCs.
