Despite the threat of a downgrade, a move that many fear
would have severe consequences for the country’s largely
export driven economy, Thailand has consistently failed to act
on the recommendations made in the US Department of State’s
2013 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report, as well as falling short
of its own commitments to tackle human trafficking made in
documents such as the 2013 National Action Plan to Prevent
and Suppress Human Trafficking (NAP).
