Ethanol production from PS in SHF and SSF
processes
SSF was carried out using
a 250 cm3 flask at 42 C for 4 days, under static and anaerobic
conditions. For scale-up of the SSF process up to 1 dm3 PS
medium, SSF was conducted using a 2 dm3 Erlenmeyer flask
capped with rubber stoppers, with shaking at 6.24 rad s1 to
keep PS uniformly. Carbon dioxide was trapped in a water
bottle using an autoclavable tube. To investigate the optimum
time for yeast inoculation into PS hydrolysate, various experiments
with different yeast addition times after saccharification
of PS were carried out.
