The level of commitment given to a supplier determines the type of relationship that a customer and supplier has. From what is usually a wide possible supplier base, the level of approach can vary considerably from the adversarial to the partnership type of sourcing[15]. The level of commitment will be somewhere between the two extremes as companies progress through the new collaborative culture[16,17]. Some variants will now be discussed further.
