Life in Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya's position on an island, at the meeting of three rivers, was ideal both for agriculture and trade. Sea going ships could sail up the River Chao Praya to the capital. So traders and government embassies had easy access to the capital.
Agriculture
The main agricultural product of Ayutthaya was rice. Other products were coconut, pepper, mangoes and sappan wood. There were many types of fruit and vegetables produced in the Kingdom. All were traded through Ayutthaya and all trade was under the control of the King and his ministers.
