The findings indicate that societal constraints, and internal conflicts
which Richard (1975) reported as inhibiting females’ development of selfconcept,
are losing their effects. A possible explanation for this is that in
the last few decades, to a large extent there have been diversification of
societal relations, careers, and roles such that the distinction between jobs
for males and females is becoming hazy. Osareren and Ogunleye (2009)
reported that both males and females in some non-traditional professions
investigated, perceived their ability to carry out their jobs the same way.
This high perception of ability is indicative of positive self concept.
Models exist for both sexes in all spheres of life encouraging high
aspiration level
