Department of State regulations require the au pair to have experience with special needs children in order to be placed with a family who has identified a child with special needs in their household.
When a host family applies to the program, Cultural Care asks them whether any of their children have special needs. Host families answer this question themselves and can then provide extra details. You will not be matched with a host family who says they have children with special needs unless you have experience caring for children with special needs.
