Being immersed in interaction,
the teacher-researcher may not be able to step out of it reflect on it, and take action on basis.
This is very difficult because the teacher-researcher would have to "be" in two places in a very short time frame-in the interaction aril outside it.
It is quite impossible to achieve this if- there are no conceptual elements available to the teacher-researcher that can be used in interpretating the current situaton.
In this case the teacher-researcher would be caught up in trying to respond to what the student just said or did and would not reflect on the student's contribution.
In this case, the observer may help the teacher-researcher both to understand the student and to posit further action.
