This paper concentrates solely on transportation modes, GPS and their associations with cognitive maps and is a part of a bigger study. Studying these two phenomena and their relation to individual’s cognitive maps is notably important as their usage is increasing rapidly. In 2008, GPS was one of the top-selling technologies; in 2011, around 12.13 automobile GPS devices were sold in China alone (Li et al., 2013), in addition to a high number of GPS enabled phones (Insight, 2010 In Wee et al., 2013). The applications of cognitive maps are widespread amongst the population and they seem to have effects on behavioral domain, planning and design of sustainable cities.
