Jean-Baptiste Say (1767-1832)
A member of the physiocratic coterie, Say is acknowledged as the first professor of economics in Europe. But where Cantillon wheeled and dealed, in some cases very close to the line as with his promotion of questionable shares of the Mississippi Company that went bankrupt in 1720, Say was a coordinator. He is particularly known for his “law of markets” and theory of production. As with many of his colleagues he visualized three components of the production process. These were human industry, capital and national agents.
