This work proposes to obtain sustainable clay bricks by using
woody biomass such as grapes and cherries seeds, sawdust and a
biomass ash, sugar cane ash, as alternative raw materials. On the
basis of a complete characterization (chemical, mineralogical and
thermal analysis, higher heating values and microstructural study)
it was possible to decide whether use each waste as pore forming
agent in order to obtain thermal insulation clayed bricks or as silica
precursor in order to improve the mechanical properties.
