1.1 Rationale of the study
This research is aimed at assessing students’ ability in recognizing and interpreting the homophones which they have learnt in their regular English class. The result is used to assess whether they have a problem with identifying homophones by listening or not. If they have a problem, homophones the lesson regarding English homophones should be intensively integrated in the classroom with more exercises.
1.2 Objectives of the study
1.2.1 To assess students’ ability to recognize English Homophone to third year EIC students and third year Engineering students totally 40 students at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Tak
1.2.2 To compare the English ability to recognize English Homophone between third year EIC students and third year Engineering students
1.3 Research questions
1.2.1 Do students have problem of the correct meaning of the given homophone?
1.2.2 How well can the students recognize the correct meaning of the given homophone?
1.2.3 How well can the students at each level recognize the correct meaning of the given homophone?
