Position Summary:
The Academic Assistants at Shrewsbury International School are responsible to the Assistant Principal (Academic) and work as part of the Senior School support team. They primarily support the Year Team Leaders and Heads of Department, but also help with general administration and data entry as required. They are responsible for helping to create an atmosphere of warm hospitality and courtesy in the Senior School reception. They play a vital role in promoting a positive, professional and friendly image to all students, parents, visitors and callers.
Responsibility: The academic assistant will:
• Be responsible to the Assistant Principal (Academic).
• Work closely with the Heads of Department and Year Team Leaders to provide administrative support.
• Work closely with the Personal Assistant to the Vice-Principal (Head of Senior), Senior Academic Administrator and the Academic Administrator to help them carry out their duties.
• Be available for other additional administrative support that may arise.
• Attend whole school staff meetings.
Tasks: The academic assistant will:
• Perform administrative duties as requested by the Personal Assistant to the Vice-Principal (Head of Senior), Senior Academic Administrator, Head of Department or Year Team Leader.
• Enter examination statistics into spreadsheets
• Update student records and produce summary data for management.
• Help to produce schemes, curriculum materials and written assessments.
• Assist with the organisation, paperwork and invigilation of tests and competitions.
• Maintain and update folders and files, both hard and soft copy.
• Back and mount display, photocopy, laminate and bind documents.
• Organise and monitor stock and equipment.
Professional Expectations: The academic assistant will:
• Speak and write English fluently.
• Have a degree or equivalent qualification.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with colleagues and pupils.
• Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Possess excellent organisational skills.
• Be proactive and adaptable.
• Support the aims and ethos of the school.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
