and distribution of rainfall, particularly in Saurastra and
Kachchh regions and in the northern part of Gujarat, is
highly erratic. As a result, these regions very often experience
drought. In south Gujarat region, rainfall distribution
is more or less uniform, with occasional heavy
rainfall. Major rainfall (90–95 % of the annual total) is
received during July to September, in the southwest
monsoon season. Most of these zones have a climatic
condition of arid to semi arid with varying levels of
humidity.
