8.0 Managerial Implications The findings of the present research also have some practical implications and may be equally useful for researchers as well as for management practitioners. This study is useful since it provides valuable information about, and an understanding of, the relationship between QWL and employees’ psychological well-being. The findings of this study indicate that organizational resources and policies that satisfy employees’ needs (e.g., health, safety, economic and family needs; actualization and knowledge needs; and social and esteem needs), within and outside the workplace, are significant predictors of their psychological well-being. In addition, this study gives an insight to managers to make them understand employees’ basic needs that employees seek to fulfill through their organization and how these needs influence their well-being. Based upon an understanding of employees’ various needs and their QWL, management can identify the strategic gap (if any) in the organization and can take further necessary actions to improve the QWL of employees. Moreover, managers can develop plans to enhance employees’ well-being by way of improving their QWL. This may be helpful for an organization to be successful and to achieve organizational objectives since employees’ well-being is directly related with a variety of desirable organizational outcomes, such as reduced rate of absenteeism, turnover, tardiness frequency and health care utilization (thus, reduced health care costs), and increased job performance (Warr 2005, Wright and Bonett 2007, Wright and Croppanzano 2004). This signifies that employees’ well- being is limited not only to them but is a matter of concern for the employers as well. Organizations are comprised of employees and healthy employees are considered both as a great asset available to an organization and vehicles to achieve success (Grawitch et al. 2006). Further, Grawitch et al. (2006) asserted that every organization should develop programs designed to maximize the physical, mental, and emotional health of all employees, in addition to the health of the organization. Therefore, it seems crucial for managers that they focus not only on the monetary aspects of work but also on enhancing the overall QWL and health and well-being of their employees. Finally, an emphasis on employees’ QWL and well-being has the potential to contribute not only in building an effective and healthy organization but is also likely to facilitate the formation of a healthy society and nation.
