Urea can be easily dissolved in concrete mixtures. The same
volume of water as that of dissolved urea can be reduced from the initial
water content to obtain the intended workability of fresh concrete. Urea
is a non-volatile liquid in concrete, and itsaddition reduces the drying
shrinkage of concrete [6]. Mixing 200 kg of urea with 1.0 L of water
results in an endothermic reaction, with the water temperature being
reduced by degree Celsius. Thus, the temperature of concrete can be
reduced bymixing urea into concrete [7].
This study investigated the influence of granular urea on heat
liberation by RHA-containing SCC. We adjusted the replacement ratio
at 20 wt% of the cement, while varying the amount of urea that wasadded. We determined the heat liberation and mechanical properties of
SCC with the addition of various amounts of urea.
