Two data sets were considered with respect to the distances of building from the coastline: one with a distance of less than 1 km and the other with a distance of not less than 1 km. Fig. 8 illustrates the deterioration curves obtained for each data set after the model calibrations. As shown in the curves, when the buildings are situated closer to the coastal area, they tend to deteriorate faster (having a worse than expected condition) compared with the buildings situated further from the coastline. Also, it can be noted that as the buildings age, the difference in deterioration between these two categories of buildings decreases.
