Lisu men make bows and arrows. Each bow is made of bamboo brought down from the hills. Carvings bought from ban Thawai, the lowland center of woodcarving in Chiang Mai, are attached to the ends. Thus, while the bow is made by the Lisu, the carvings decorating both ends are made by lowland Thais. The bow is made to look old and ethnic-like by being blackened by soot in the fire. These men also work as construction laborers to obtain additional income
