3110 cm1 as a weak band for the free ligand (NVIM). It has been
observed at 3108 cm1 as a strong band in poly(NVIM). This refers
to an increase in the number of CAH bonds, consequently the number
of units in the structure. Another CAH stretching vibration of
the NVIM, which is observed at 3000 cm1, has been shifted to
2958 cm1 in poly(NVIM)’s spectrum. According to DFT calculations,
this mod is mostly contributed by the @CH2 end in the vinyl
portion. Hence, the observed shifting indicates the formation of a
polymeric structure. Appearance of a slightly broad band at
2958 cm1 in poly(NVIM)’s spectrum indicates the presence of
CAH stretching (backbone chain) vibrations, which supports our
conclusion on the formation of a polymer. Furthermore, the strong
and narrow band at 1647 cm1 observed in NVIM spectrum is the
characteristic of C@C stretching vibration. This band has become
broader and observed at 1649 cm1.
