Side effects observed with eltrombopag treatment in subjects that did not have MDS or AML include increases in liver laboratory values called alanine transaminases (which could be a sign of liver injury), and development of fiber deposits in the bone marrow that may affect the ability of the bone marrow to make cells. Other side effects that are seen rarely (less than 1 in 100) in patients who took eltrombopag include serious blood clots that may cause pain and swelling in your legs. Blood clots can also cause heart attack, stroke, or lung problems that may be fatal. Also, cataracts were observed in rodents and you will be monitored for cataracts.
