Upon topic completion, students should be able to determine when to use a private or a public IPv4 address. They should also be able to plan an IPv4 addressing scheme given a scenario based around a number of hosts for each subnet and the number of subnets required for a given network address.
It is important that all students are able to identify hosts that are in the same subnet as one another from the hosts’ IPv4 configuration. In addition, students should be able to determine a range of subnets given a network address and a subnet mask.
Use the whiteboard to go through sufficient addressing examples to be sure your students have understood how to subnet.
