Location and People
The Lacandon rain forest covers much of the eastern portion of the state of
Chiapas, Mexico. The Lacandons, the indigenous people who have occupied
the Lacandon rain forest for hundreds of years, are direct descendents of the
Maya who built the great cities of Palenque and Bonampak.
