The growth in IT is said to have had a revolutionary impact on business (Mendel, 1999). IT
is also said to have altered consumer demand and even remolded business and society
(Molitor, 1999). The enhanced information processing capability offered by IT shrinks the
temporal and physical space between and within organizations as well as reduces the cost of
inputs (Chatterji, 2000). At times, IT is mentioned as though it contains magical qualities
(Kaarst-Brown, 1999).
