Returning to our contrast between tests and assessment, we find that tests are a subset of assessment, but they are certainly not the only form of assessment that a teacher can make. Although tests can be useful devices, they are only one among many procedures and tasks that teachers can ultimately use to assess (and measure)students. But now, you might be thinking, if you make assessments every time you teach something in the classroom, does all teaching involve assessment?
