Regarding the placing of the patient and the electrodes during the HF surgery the following rules are to be followed:
z The patient has to be placed well away from the ground by providing good
means of insulation techniques.
z Good HF insulation can be obtained by using a sufficient number of additional
intermediate layers. Use of Antistatic Sheeting is recommended for this
purpose.
z Skin-to-skin contact (for example between the arms and body of the Patient)
should be avoided, for example by insertion of dry gauze, because there
may be some HF voltage difference between these parts of the Patient’s
body which may cause an unwanted current to flow.
