1. What are the 3 necessary components of informed consent?
1) Competence the client has sufficient mental and emotional capacity to make rational decisions for him or herself. When this is lacking, a parent or guardian is required to make decisions. 
2) Informed. The client receives sufficient information in a clear manner to comprehend the matter to be decided. Sufficient information refers to the amount of information a reasonable person requires prior to making a decision. 
3) The consent is voluntary. Consent is obtained without coercion or pressure on the client to make the decision; he or she acts freely
