Just-in-Time Production process is a management philosophy. It attacks waste emphasizes problems and bottlenecks and achieves streamline production. It is a pull system of production.
It is developed in Toyota Motor Company in Japan. This is followed mostly or used mostly in export oriented Japanese company. JIT requires employee participation, industrial engineering basics continuous improvement, total quality control and small lot sizes.
Two basic underline assumptions of JIT can be mentioned:
1) waste in every way, form or shape must be eliminated.
2) Respect for people(employees).
