• Host family will allow one and one-half days off each week in addition to one complete weekend off each month.
• Host family will allow 10 days of paid vacation time to be taken at mutually agreed upon times. Vacation days are earned one day per month from the beginning of your third month in the U.S.
• We request that you plan to take your vacation days during host mom’s long school breaks when she will be home with host child (during the weeks of Spring Break, Summer Vacation, and/or Winter Break).
• When there is school the next day, please be home by 10:00 PM. We have to get up at 6 AM.
• On Friday or Saturday nights, or when you don’t have to work the next day, you are welcome to stay at a friend’s house. Please let us know by 9 PM when you plan to stay out the night, so that we may plan to reset the house alarm before going to sleep. On your way home in the morning, text host family and we will turn off the alarm.
• On Friday or Saturday nights, if you are planning to go out after 10 PM or to come home after midnight, please make arrangements to have a friend drive and to stay over the night at your friend’s house. Then, you won’t have to worry about making it home in time to return the car by midnight or about setting off the house alarm causing the dogs to bark and to wake up host family in the middle of the night. (Host child sleeps from 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM).
• When you go out, please let us know where you will be so that we can find you in case of an emergency.
• Keep your Au Pair phone charged and with you so that we can reach you by call or text. We will be respectful not to contact you during your free time unless there is important information (such as incoming storms or worsening road conditions that require you to come home) or a family emergency where we need your help.
