In the raw bulk milk from the 43
farms, the prevalence of L. garvieae was between 105 to 106 CFUs/
mL. It should be emphasized that L. garvieae could also be present
in the remaining 178 farms but at numbers below 104 CFU/mL
(Supplement Table A1). The results show that, L. garvieae found in
milk was not located to one specific region of the country
(Supplement Table A1). Due to the large number of L. garvieae
isolates, only 43 isolates were chosen for further characterization,
one isolate from each farm.
