In the samples of beer analyzed, the mean lead
concentration was 48.23 íg/L. Canned beers had the
highest levels, probably because low-quality cans were
used; lower concentrations were found in draft beers.
However, another study reported that Pb content increased
in draft beer because of the dispensation equipment
(Newton et al., 1992). Among the alcoholic
beverages we analyzed, the highest levels of Pb were
found in spirits, anisette, and cider samples.
