This requires that hydrological conditions under which sediment
will be mobilized have to be known. Another point of interest
is the question how far re-suspended sediment is transported
downstream (Baborowski et al., 2012a) and how the transportation
is influenced by the ambient conditions. Here, the proportion of
metals in dissolved, colloidal and particulate form may be important
(Guéguen and Dominik, 2003). Particularly dissolved and colloidal
substances can be transported over long distances, as they
do not settle (Furrer et al., 2002).
