Wood chips used in the current experiment are non-uniform in
shape and size. This results in a mixed pattern of combustion
temperatures in the combustion system over the total period of
combustion, shown in Fig. 10. Due to the differences in shape and
size of the fuel, the volatile and char burnout rates are uneven. The
presence of high moisture content in wood chips also leads to poor
combustion of the fuel. The high moisture content of wood chip fuel
resulted in a significant heat loss to vaporize the moisture, hence
the temperatures are found to be lower compared with other fuels
