The educational brochure used as the firststage
nursing intervention was effective in
increasing women’s knowledge about cervical
cancer and its screening and increasing screening
participation, as found in other studies
(Arevian et al., 2006; Eaker et al., 2004; Erbil
et al., 2011; Hou et al., 2002). Yet the cumulative
effect of the three-stage nursing intervention
confirmed the inadequacy of distributing an
educational brochure with an invitation as
the only method to increase knowledge.
