In comparison with the rural-natural sites, diversity of bees was onlyreduced in the rural-agricultural sites. This contrasts strongly withthe response of hoverflies to the different land use types. Only urbansites had lower abundances of hoverflies than rural-natural sites.Also, in comparison with the rural-natural sites, alpha diversityof hoverflies was only reduced in the urban sites. This indicates astrong negative response of hoverflies as a group to urban land use.Similar to our findings, hoverflies in agricultural areas have beenfound to be relatively insensitive to the matrix quality surroundinghabitat patches
