Results showed no significant difference in baseline pain severity (at the beginning of active phase of labor) between the heat and cold group and the control group (6.84 ± 1.93 and 7.0 ± 2.03, respectively; P > 0.05)
but thereafter along with progression of labor and during four stages of pain evaluation,
pain severity in the heat and cold group was significantly lower than the control group.
