This study was a cross-sectional survey research that had a purpose to investigate the roles of the public health volunteers in the operations of the communicable disease prevention along the border and the factors that associated with the roles of the public health volunteers in the operations of the communicable disease prevention boundary in Chaiburi Sub – district in Tha – Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province. The samples of this study comprised 171 public health volunteers of Chaiburi Sub – district in Tha – Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaires during the 24th November – 1st December 2015. The data were then analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation,Chi – square analysis, and Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient statistics. The results of the study indicated that most public health volunteers had the roles in the operations of the communicable disease prevention boundary in Chaiburi Sub – district in Tha – Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province according to the following three levels; firstly at a high level accounted for 81.9 %; followed by a moderate level accounted for 15.8 %, and thirdly at a low level accounted for 2.3 % respectively. Referring to the factors that associated with the roles of the public health volunteers in the operations of the communicable disease prevention along the border, they were statistically significan (p-value < 0.05) comprising the knowledge about the communicable diseases along the border and the social support.
The study results suggested that the agencies responsible in the area should promote the public health volunteers to have the roles in the operations of the communicable disease prevention along the border with an emphasis on increasing knowledge about the communicable diseases along the border and the social support more comprehensively.
