Soils were dug up to 30 cm, replicates of soil samples were taken
from 5 different points randomly selected from the studied area.
The pH of each soil was determined using a digital pH meter, nitrogen
concentration using a micro Kjeldahl technique (Peach and
Tracy, 1956), phosphorus by spectrophotometer and potassium by
flame photometer (Jackson, 1967). Walkey’s and Blacks titration
