Swiss watchmaker Tissot is bolstering its United States presence with its first standalone boutique on the shopping mecca Fifth Avenue in New York.
The new store opened with more than 800 pieces, touting a broad range of watches for consumers who are only used to abbreviated displays in department stores. Tissot likely could not have chosen a better street for its first boutique, and may be spurred to open additional U.S. stores following consumer reactions.
Starting strong
Tissot piqued interest among consumers by revealing a part of the development on social media prior to the opening. The brand told consumers that something was coming to Fifth Avenue on Aug. 8, but did not divulge what that was.
