Data in Table 5 indicated that all the tested plant extracts
reduced the number of pustules/leaf as foliar spraying on wheat
seedlings compared with the untreated control. Foliar spray application four days after inoculation was the best timing treatment showing plant resistance response (R) compared with the application one day before or after inoculation. Among all plant extracts tested, neem extract was the most effective treatment and recorded 86.30% efficacy when applied one day before inoculation and 100% efficacy when applied one or four days after inoculation (Table 5). Its effect was equivalent to that of Sumi-8 fungicide (Table 5). After 22 days from inoculation, the tested plant extracts except garlic extract gave evidence to have positive residual/continued protective effect even better than that of the fungicide Sumi-8 (Table 5).
