I apologize for any inconvenience this matter has caused. Please note, if your account is brought to a zero balance, we should be able to complete the closing request.
Please also keep in mind, to submit a closing request for a personal checking or savings account, be sure of the following:
-The account must have a current positive (or zero) balance with no items pending.
-Please allow all outstanding transactions to post to the account before requesting that it be closed.
-Regions is required to honor any pre-authorized debits that are presented for payment. Please contact merchants to cancel all pre-authorized transactions that may be set up. If a charge is presented while we’re in the process of closing the account, the item(s) will cause the account to reopen. It will be necessary to submit an additional closing request once the items have cleared the account.
If the balance in the account is less than $2.00, we’re unable to mail a check for the remaining funds. You may choose from one of the following:
-Transfer the remaining funds to another Regions account
-Visit a branch to withdraw the balance and close the account
-Proceed with the closing request through this email channel and forfeit the remaining balance.
If all the criteria above is met, you can respond to this message with your request.
