All fungal isolates colonized inoculated
stems of 1-year-old Q. agrifolia seedlings after 6 months for both
replications of the experiment; lesion lengths were not different
between experiments and, thus, datawere combined (Fig. 6). Fungi
obtained from reisolation of Cryptosporiopsis sp. (UCROK 537
and UCROK 766), D. verrucaeformis (UCROK547 and UCROK584),
Phaeoacremonium mortoniae (UCROK389 and UCROK917), and F.
solani(UCROK357 and UCROK859) were the same as thepreviously inoculated fungal isolates based on colony morphology,
growth rate, and ITS sequence (Figs. 1 and 2). Recovery frequency
from lesions was 70% for P. mortoniae,100% for all other species,
and 0% for the mock-inoculated control treatment.
