The royal astrologer foretold that the boy would be a very smart and brave king, however, he would kill his father, The king. Phaya Kong was very sad, but unwillingly ordered the soldiers to take his son to the forest and have him killed. With the pure love of a mother the queen secretly begged the soldiers to put the baby on the tray and let him flow on the river stream on his own destiny. However, while putting him on the tray, his head was accidentally hit by the edge of the tray, and left the scar on his forehead.
Later, Grandma Chan found the baby and had sympathy for the baby, but because she already had many children and were not capable of looking after the boy, so she decided to give the boy to Grandma Hom, her sister. Grandma Hom had raised ducks for a living since she was young till the mound of the duck stool was very high. Nowadays, people call that area as Kok Yai Hom (Grandma Hom's mound). She named the boy 'Pahn', which means tray.
