Suggestions programs and quality circles are used to obtain and share information that
might otherwise be unknown. Without information-seeking lean practices, the natural
tendency to seek coherent stories causes people to value consistency of information over
completeness to such an extent that people are often content to rely on WYSIATI
thinking and prefer less information, because it is less disruptive to the story they have
created (Kahneman, 2011, pp. 87-88). The disciplined data-driven approach of lean

desire to settle for intuitive stories without obtaining and using all of the relevant
